Thank you for your interest in volunteering. NAMI Miami depends on it’s trained volunteers to keep programs running. Volunteers make a world of difference in many ways and are at the core of NAMI’s mission to transform the lives of families and individuals who are affected by mental health challenges.

Fundraising / Development & “Walk” Committee Volunteer

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the largest volunteer driven organization

committed to education, support, and advocacy for people living with mental illness and their

families. We are a forward thinking grassroots non-profit experiencing significant growth and

are looking to add talented Volunteers to our team. We would love to have you join us!

 

Why work with us?

 You will be involved with the first Walk in Miami-Dade for mental health.

 You will work with accomplished financial, legal, political and clinical professionals.

 You will work with an organization that is at the epicenter of mental health reform.

 You will be on the team as we connect to community thought leaders in mental health

and social services.

 You will gain new connections and experience while being socially responsible.

 

Responsibilities: (You may be interested in working on any of these tasks, depending upon your

skills and interest)

 Conduct prospect research on individual, foundations, corporate donors, strategic

partners, markets and industries

 Assist in growing our membership and donor database

 Work with the Board of Directors Funding/Development Committee

 Attend and participate in related activities and meetings

 Assist with the development, research, management and logistics of NAMI Walk

 

Work schedule/time Commitment:

Our Volunteers have a flexible schedule working approximately 10-15 hours per week for at

least 3 months; exact days and times to be determined according to your schedule.

Currently, this is primarily a virtual position with telephone and email communications and a bi-

monthly or monthly meeting in Miami. If you are a college student, there is the potential for

academic credit if applicable.

Community Event Volunteer

 

Would you like to spend a few minutes meeting a person and changing his or her life forever?

Then become an instrumental part of our outreach team.  You will help inform individuals of how to help themselves and their loved ones get on the road to recovery.  They may be hearing this for the first time from you! You will be greatly appreciated by them and by us!

Your schedule is very flexible and you may contribute as little as 4 hours per month or as much as you would like.  (We have a multitude of volunteer activites that you may be interested in!)

You will be participating with other volunteers in community events and health fairs which are held at public organization venues.

What will you be doing?

  • Occupy a table with at least one other volunteer at a community event
  • Greet members of the public, answer general questions and distribute material about our organization

We will

  • Provide you with hands on training at the event
  • Provide you with facts sheets and talking points about our organization
  • Provide you with an opportunity to practice your relationship building and face-to-face communications experience.

Social Media Intern

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the largest volunteer driven organization

committed to education, support, and advocacy for people living with mental illness and their

families. We are trained volunteers who are family members and consumers with lived

experience with mental illnesses. We provide evidence based programming to reduce stigma,

inspire early intervention and help care givers and consumers promote recovery from mental

illness.

We are a forward thinking grassroots non-profit looking to hire a socially oriented intern with

strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including social media

channels. We plan to redesign our website and launch a social media campaign to reintroduce

NAMI to South Florida. We are experiencing significant growth and are looking to add a

a talented member to our team.

Duties and Responsibilities: (Depending upon your skills and interest)

 Develop social media marketing ideas and content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,

 Assist in launching a social media campaign

 Monitor and post/schedule posts on social media channels

 Online outreach and promotion

 Create content with an emphasis in audience engagement

 Understand our target demographics and create compelling content to reach them

 Contribute innovative ideas for new projects

 Assist with developing policy and governance of our social media channels

 (With previous experience, Contribute to our website redesign project)

 Knowledge of photo editing and design software, such as Photoshop or InDesign

 Proficiency using social media scheduling tools, preferably Hootsuite

 Excellent communications skills, spelling and grammar

 Computer and internet access and MS Office experience

 Self-motivated team player with the ability to meet deadlines while remaining flexible

 Strong organizational skills with keen attention to details

 Be working toward a degree in a related field or a graduate
